- 480 BC – Battle of Thermopylae ending with victory for the Persians below Xerxes I. His army crushes a force of 300 Spartans and 700 Boeotians under the Spartan king Leonidas I's commander. For two days the Greeks resist the onslaught of the Persians, but then the Boeotians are partly sent away, and the Spartans are betrayed by Ephialtes of Trachis, whereupon they fight to the last man and Leonidas falls. After this the Persians can invade Greece and occupy Attica Peninsula.
- 1492 - Then Innocent VIII has passed it away July 25 Rodrigo Lanzol-Borja y Borja is elected Pope and takes the name Alexander VI.
